Next, start promoting your content. You can use Pinterest as a reliable traffic source. Some new bloggers could drive massive traffic to their blog from this very visual platform.

Moreover, build relationships with your audience on social media. You can send them an email regularly, active in Facebook Groups, Twitter and wherever your audience usually hangs out.
Can I start a free blog and make money?
Yes! However, it’s not recommended at all. Why? When you use a free platform such as wordpress.com or blogspot.com, you don’t have full control over your blog. This can be risky, especially if your blog suddenly shut down without notice, your income will be gone too.
A self-hosted WordPress blog is highly recommended and can be started easily and inexpensive. See my step-by-step tutorial here!
How do bloggers make money from blogging?
Here are the 5 most popular bloggers income streams. You could be able to choose these monetization methods below and implement on your own blog.
1. Display Ads
Display advertising is the easiest way to monetize your blog. But keep in mind that unless your blog has a lot of traffic, you won’t make great money!
The advantage of this method is that you only have to set it once and you’ll make money blogging. The more traffic comes to your blog, the more money you’ll make. As simple as that!
There are plenty of advertising networks out there. When you sign up and get approved, they’ll give you a few lines of code to place on your blog. It will automatically display ads on your blog. You’ll get paid per ad click or per ad view (depending on the network policy)
Some exclusive ads networks have a minimum session/page views requirements. Typically, the higher page views requirements, the better they will pay you.
Here are my personally recommended ad networks for different levels of the blogger:
- Beginners: Google Adsense or Media.net. These ad networks are good for rookie bloggers because they have no minimum page views requirements. Moreover, it’s easy for beginners to join.
- Mid-Level Bloggers: If your blog could reach 10,000 page views/month, you can switch to Monumetric. This network pays better than Adsense and has great customer support.
- Advanced Bloggers: If your blog could hit 25,000 sessions/month, it’s time to join Mediavine. They pay you far better than Adsense. Highly recommended ad network!
- Veteran Bloggers: AdThrive is the very exclusive ad network because they required your blog to hits 100,000 sessions/month to join. It’s hard to join but once you get approved, your life will change.
2. Affiliate Marketing
Basically, affiliate marketing is when you gain a commission when somebody taking a certain action such as making a purchase or sign up for services through your referral link. You can spread your affiliate links anywhere in your blog.
This is a great monetization method because you don’t have to overwhelm with any product packaging, product delivery or customer support issues. Moreover, you can promote different products to thousands of new customers.
The only disadvantage to affiliate marketing is that conversions are so much harder to pull off than just getting clicks on ads. That’s why you have to provide high-quality content on your blog. High-quality content converts better than averages content.
There are so many affiliate networks you can join to get started with affiliate marketing. You can join these trusted affiliate networks below:
You can find other affiliate products simply by typing down “your niche + affiliate program” on Google and boom!
3. Sponsored Blog Post
Sponsored posts can be a great opportunity to make money from your blog. However, this method needs a solid online presence. In a nutshell, you need to have a massive, regular monthly traffic.
If you have those attribute, you may be able to work with brands or companies related to your niche. Today, companies are willing to pay big money to bloggers to feature their products with in-depth reviews. For some companies, a sponsored post is a lucrative way of advertising.
Most bloggers usually charge anywhere from $50-$1000 per post, depending on their traffic and engagement. If you are a famous and influential blogger, you can charge even more.
You get the point here? It’s all about blog traffic!
Here are some sites that connect influencers (maybe you) with brands for sponsored posts purpose and other promotional gigs:
Go ahead and join them to start exploring partnerships opportunities.
4. Digital Products
If you have the expertise and special skills, you may be able to sell it through digital products. Digital products are great as you don’t require inventory, low risk and easily distributed. However, you have to provide great customer support and maybe a great affiliate system to sell more, over and over. Here are examples of digital products bloggers often create:
Membership sites, Mobile Apps, Desktop software, WordPress themes & plugin, Paid webinar and workshops, Online courses (ebook, audio & video tutorial), Graphics and digital art, Web-based applications, etc.
5. Physical Products
Some successful bloggers out there also sell physical products to their audience. For example, they sell books, jewelry & accessories, clothing & shoes, children toys, vintage products, etc.
Physical products are really profitable because easy to sell. However, selling physical products are complicated because you have to deal with manufacturing, inventory, shipping, returns, customer support, etc.
But don’t be discouraged! All the hassle above can be reduced with the dropshipping system or through POD (print on demand).
Starting a blog (to make money) is just like starting any other type of business. It should be built with the right business mindset.
If your blog is already generating traffic and you’re ready to monetize your blog, I highly recommend starting with affiliate marketing.
This is one of the most profitable methods as well as easy to start even if you’ve never sold anything online.
Actually, there are dozens of monetization methods, but these 5 are the easiest for bloggers to get started and also profitable. You don’t have to do all at once. Simply find what works best for you and be consistent.
